Co-op Bank to Trim Branch Hours in 2026

Date:

The Co-operative Bank plans to reduce operating hours at 40 branches starting next year. Some branches will experience up to a three-hour weekly reduction in opening times from January 2026, with 18 branches closing for a day each week.

For instance, the Brighton branch previously operated from 9am to 5pm on weekdays but will now open from 9.30am to 2.30pm. Similarly, the Caerphilly branch, which currently operates from 9am to 4pm, will adjust its hours to 10am to 2pm and will be closed on Wednesdays.

The Co-operative Bank, serving 2.5 million customers, attributed these changes to declining branch visits, prompting a need for adjustments. The bank reassured customers that despite reduced branch hours, support through online, mobile, and telephone banking services will remain available. Alternative open branches will also be provided if a customer’s regular branch is closed on a weekday.

To locate the nearest Co-operative Bank branch, customers can use the bank’s online branch finder tool.
