“Christmas Chaos: 14-Year-Old Killed, Teens Shot in Chicago”

A tragic incident unfolded at a Christmas tree lighting event in the US, resulting in the death of a 14-year-old boy and multiple teenagers being shot. The chaos erupted during Chicago’s official Christmas light ceremony when around 300 young individuals stormed the event, leading to gunfire. Subsequently, Chicago police responded to a second shooting nearby, where two individuals were found injured.

The 14-year-old boy, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries. Another victim, an 18-year-old male, was seriously injured with a gunshot wound to the leg. The shootings occurred around 10:40 pm. Prior to this, at 9:50 pm, a large group near the Chicago Theater experienced gunshots, prompting a police response. Seven teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17 were shot at the intersection of State and Randolph streets.

Alderman Hopkins reported that multiple police officers were attacked and injured during the chaos, with some officers needing medical attention. The situation was described as “300 juveniles rioting in the Loop now, at least 5 victims shot, one critical with life-threatening gunshot wound to the torso. Multiple police officers attacked and injured with mace and stun guns, at least one PO hospitalized.”

According to Courtney Spinelli from WGNNews, officers witnessed a large group gathering on the streets and heard shots near the Chicago Theatre. The youngest victim, a 13-year-old girl, was shot in the leg but is in fair condition. Witness Linda Dixon described the scene as chaotic, with people running in different directions following the gunfire.

The incident is under investigation by the police to determine the circumstances leading up to the violence.
