Global music sensation Charli XCX recently shared her initial concerns about the reception of her album “BRAT,” revealing that she feared being dropped by her record label due to its unconventional nature.
Despite achieving chart-topping success with “BRAT” and winning five Brit Awards, Charli confessed during a conversation with Gwyneth Paltrow on the GOOP podcast that she focused solely on creating music for herself without worrying about public reaction.
Reflecting on her mindset while crafting the album, the “Party 4 U” singer disclosed, “I wasn’t considering the response at all. I approached this record as a personal project, prepared for the possibility of being released from my label, and I was okay with that.”
Charli attributed part of her success to fortunate timing and a shift in cultural preferences, stating, “When I dropped this album, people were yearning for authenticity and rawness. That’s the direction culture was heading in.”
The release of “BRAT” sparked a cultural phenomenon known as Brat Summer, characterized by vibrant green text memes and references to party lifestyles, attracting widespread attention and admiration.
Following the triumph of “BRAT,” Charli, who recently tied the knot with George Daniel of The 1975, hinted at taking a break from music. However, she now hints at future projects that promise to be distinct from her previous work. “I’m eager to explore the evolving landscape of pop culture, especially in music, and what audiences desire.”
Expressing her creative evolution, Charli shared, “I prefer to experiment with contrasts. My next endeavor will naturally differ from ‘BRAT’ as I delve into new territories, like incorporating strings, which is a fresh and enjoyable experience for me.”
In addition to her music career, Charli revealed plans to venture into acting, with upcoming films such as “Faces Of Death” and “I Want Your Sex.” Embracing this new artistic direction, she expressed, “While I adore creating music, I felt compelled to explore different avenues of creativity. I’ve never been a big music listener, but I am constantly immersed in films.”
As Charli XCX expands her artistic horizons, fans eagerly anticipate her future projects, anticipating more groundbreaking and diverse creations from the versatile artist.
