Cat Crashes Through Car Windshield in Bald Eagle Encounter

Date:

A cat unexpectedly crashed through a woman’s car windshield in North Carolina after being dropped by a bird of prey believed to be a bald eagle. The incident occurred on US Route 74 in Swain County, causing significant damage to the vehicle at a speed of 55mph. The startled driver contacted emergency services to report the unusual event, mentioning that a witness was equally surprised by the cat’s sudden appearance.

During the 911 call, the woman described the bizarre situation to the operator, who confirmed the location and dispatched Highway Patrol to investigate. The driver sadly confirmed that the cat did not survive and was found on the side of the road. Fortunately, the woman escaped unharmed, as confirmed by Highway Patrol officials, although the vehicle had to be towed away from the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing the cat engaging in a mid-air struggle with the bald eagle before the unfortunate fall. While bald eagles typically target smaller prey like fish or birds, they may go after cats under certain circumstances, such as when they appear vulnerable due to age, injury, or size.

In a separate incident in British Columbia, Canada, a Yorkshire Terrier named CoCo narrowly avoided being taken by a bald eagle in its owner’s garden. CoCo managed to escape the eagle’s talons, sustaining only minor scratches and making a full recovery.
