The 2026 induction ceremony for the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame took place, welcoming notable figures such as Jamaal Magloire, Dave Smart, and Miranda Ayim. Magloire, a former NBA player, made history as the first Canadian to play for the Toronto Raptors and was an NBA All-Star in 2004. He later transitioned to coaching, serving as an assistant coach for the Raptors and currently holding the position of vice-president for the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.
Dave Smart’s legacy lies in his remarkable leadership at Carleton University, where he guided the men’s basketball program to win an impressive 13 U Sports championships. Miranda Ayim, a prominent figure in Canadian basketball, captained the women’s national team and had the honor of being a flag-bearer alongside Nathan Hirayama at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
The class of 2026 was unveiled on July 2, featuring esteemed individuals such as Michael Meeks, Anna Stammberger, Dan Meagher, Teresa Kleindienst, Peter (Doc) Ryan, Janice Deakin, and Dr. Andrew Pipe. This diverse group of players, coaches, officials, and builders will be officially inducted into the Hall of Fame during a ceremony in St. Stephen, N.B.
