Bernie Ecclestone recently sold a yacht named after his daughters, Petra and Tamara, following his wife Fabiana’s disclosure that they only utilized it for eight days annually. Another smaller yacht belonging to the Formula 1 boss, situated in Ibiza, is also currently on the market, in contrast to the “Petara” yacht located in Croatia.
During an interview marking his 95th birthday, Ecclestone informed BILD that the yacht had been sold. Fabiana mentioned, “We only used it for eight days a year. We don’t need such a big yacht for that purpose.”
Earlier this year, Ecclestone also parted ways with his collection of F1 cars, selling them to Red Bull co-owner Mark Mateschitz for approximately £550 million. This sale came after settling with HMRC by paying over £500 million due to a failure in declaring overseas assets worth £400 million.
Despite these transactions, Ecclestone and his family still maintain a net worth exceeding £1.8 billion according to Forbes. Alongside his third wife Fabiana and their five-year-old son Ace, he resides in Gstaad, a resort town in the Swiss Alps.
Regarding his birthday celebration, Ecclestone mentioned, “My daughters wanted a grand party. However, I prefer to fly with Fabi and Ace to my ranch in Brazil.”
Ecclestone shared that his eldest daughter Deborah, from his first marriage with Ivy Bamford, visited him in Gstaad before his birthday and has recently turned 70.
In discussing their relationship, Fabiana stated, “We’ve been married for 13 years now, together for 16. Our parenting of Ace is going smoothly. Bernie and I work together as a team in raising him. Bernie deals with situations calmly, like when he restricts Ace from watching TV until he completes his homework.”
She added, “Explaining to Ace the limited access to online activities compared to his classmates can be challenging. We believe it’s best for him to have his first cell phone around the ages of 12 to 14.”
Ecclestone expressed, “Ace has accepted this arrangement without complaints. He is a bright, intelligent, and remarkable boy. I see endless potential in him.”
Fabiana added, “Ace started skiing at the age of two. Unlike many children his age, he enjoys a wide variety of foods, with sushi being his favorite.”
