Police have apprehended a 22-year-old individual in connection to the shooting incident involving Conservative advocate Charlie Kirk. The suspect, Tyler Robinson, was recently identified following an extensive law enforcement operation that culminated in his arrest after days of investigation. The FBI reported that Robinson was taken into custody around 10 pm on Thursday by local and state authorities in Utah.

Former President Donald Trump confirmed the arrest during an appearance on Fox News, mentioning that someone close to the suspect facilitated his surrender to the authorities. Additionally, sources informed CNN that the detained individual admitted to his father that he was responsible for the shooting.

A comprehensive manhunt was launched to locate the alleged perpetrator, with a reward of $100,000 offered for any information leading to his capture. Tyler Robinson, hailing from Utah, is currently held in custody pending further legal proceedings.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox disclosed that a family member of the suspect informed investigators about Robinson’s increasing involvement in political matters. The family member recalled a specific incident where Robinson expressed disdain towards Charlie Kirk’s ideologies during a dinner conversation prior to the shooting.

Governor Cox commended the suspect’s family for their cooperation in providing crucial information to law enforcement. He specifically acknowledged the family of Charlie Kirk, emphasizing the importance of seeking justice for the case.

Reports indicate that the suspect’s father, Matt Robinson, has a long-standing career in the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, spanning 27 years, while his mother, Amber Robinson, works in caregiving. Tyler Robinson reportedly resides in a substantial six-bedroom residence valued at $600,000 in Washington, Utah, located approximately 260 miles from the shooting location.

During the investigation, bullet casings recovered were found to have peculiar engravings, with one casing bearing the inscription: “notices bulges OWO what’s this?” Governor Cox mentioned that among the recovered casings, three remained unfired, indicating potential evidence in the ongoing case.
