Aldi has integrated InPost Lockers into over 500 of its stores in the United Kingdom. These lockers enable customers to conveniently pick up and return online orders while doing their routine grocery shopping. The implementation spans 536 Aldi stores throughout England, Scotland, and Wales, with plans to extend this service to more locations in the upcoming months. The supermarket aims to equip at least 600 of its stores with these lockers by the end of this year, out of its total 1,050 stores.
Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, Jonathan Neale, emphasized the importance of convenience and efficiency for shoppers. He expressed the supermarket’s commitment to saving customers time and money by facilitating parcel pickups and returns alongside their regular shopping errands.
InPost UK CEO, Neil Kuschel, highlighted the collaborative effort between Aldi and InPost to enhance the shopping experience for customers across the UK. Their joint initiative aims to provide a more convenient, cost-effective, and sustainable way for shoppers to manage their parcels, ensuring easy access to collection and returns.
Aldi recently disclosed a list of priority locations in the UK for new store openings, emphasizing the need for suitable sites to accommodate their store formats. The supermarket is specifically seeking sites for its Aldi Local store concept in Central London zones one and two. Interested parties with potential sites matching Aldi’s requirements are encouraged to contact realestateacquisitions@aldi.co.uk.
As part of a £650 million investment this year, Aldi is expanding its store network with a target of 1,500 UK stores in the long term. Additionally, Aldi raised the hourly wage for store assistants earlier this year, with hourly rates now starting at £12.75 and £14.05 within the M25, and planning for further pay increases by September 2025 to reach £12.85 nationally and £14.16 within the M25.
