“Emma Raducanu Ends 2025 Ranked No. 29, Eyes Australian Open Seed”

Date:

Emma Raducanu has achieved one of her seasonal objectives as the WTA Tour season comes to a close. The British tennis prodigy concluded her season prematurely in October due to health issues.

Raducanu’s journey throughout the season was filled with ups and downs. She secured notable victories at Wimbledon and the US Open, reclaiming her status as Britain’s No. 1 player. However, her fitness struggles became apparent towards the end, notably at the Ningbo Open where she required medical attention and suffered a defeat in the opening round.

After facing various challenges, Raducanu made the decision to end her season early but announced that she would continue working with coach Francisco Roig in 2026. This choice jeopardized her goal of being seeded for the Australian Open.

The 22-year-old withdrew from her final two tournaments of the year while ranked 29th, casting doubt on her aspiration to be in the top 32. With no additional ranking points earned post-withdrawal, she awaited confirmation on reaching this milestone.

Having concluded the season, Raducanu finished the year ranked world No. 29. Barring a difficult start to the 2026 events, she is likely to secure a seeding in Melbourne.

In early October, Raducanu expressed her ambition to be seeded at the Australian Open and elaborated on the importance of this goal. She emphasized the benefits of a higher ranking in improving draw outcomes and acknowledged the role of luck in tournament success.

The tennis sensation highlighted the significance of being a role model, emphasizing the impact of inspiring younger generations to take up the sport. She stressed the importance of maintaining a positive attitude on and off the court to set a good example.

Raducanu currently stands as the sole British representative within the top 32 of the WTA rankings, with Aryna Sabalenka holding the world No. 1 spot this year. Sky has announced a discounted Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, offering over 1,400 live matches across various leagues.

Sky’s upcoming season will feature a minimum of 215 live Premier League games, a notable increase from the previous season.
