“Waste Collector Warns Against Overloading Bins”

Date:

A waste collector has issued a caution against individuals leaping into their wheelie bins and disclosed the repercussions of overloading them. The refuse collector, known as Ashley, frequently shares his expert advice and industry insights on social platforms.

In a recent video, the self-proclaimed “bin-fluencer” addressed a query about weight restrictions for general waste bins. Ashley advised against entering bins to compress the trash inside.

He stated, “I observe many people, myself included, jumping in. Avoid doing so because if you compress it excessively, you won’t be able to add more.” Ashley elaborated that bins overloaded with weight can easily break under pressure as they are predominantly made of plastic.

“If the bin becomes immovable, it’s likely to crack, especially when navigating curbs due to the strain. A broken bin may not be collected next time as it won’t be serviceable,” Ashley emphasized.

Rather than overburdening general waste bins, Ashley advocated for increased recycling and distributing waste among different bins. He suggested, “Take excess waste to recycling centers, distribute it across various bins, and lessen the load for waste collectors.”

Highlighting the physical challenges faced by waste workers, Ashley urged against overfilling bins to avoid straining their bodies. He emphasized the inconvenience of maneuvering heavy bins and the risks of causing injuries.

“Please refrain from stuffing bins excessively as it can lead to back injuries for waste collectors. If you struggle to move a bin, how do you expect us to manage it?” Ashley pointed out.
