Ricky Hatton Laid to Rest: Emotional Farewell

Iconic boxer Ricky Hatton, the former world welterweight and light-welterweight champion, will be laid to rest today after being found dead at his home in Hyde, Greater Manchester last month at the age of 46, leading to a nationwide outpouring of grief.

The funeral procession will commence in Gee Cross and pass through Hyde towards Manchester Cathedral. Following a private service, the cortege will proceed to the Etihad Stadium, the cherished home ground of Manchester City football club, which Hatton supported.

The Cheshire Cheese pub on Stockport Road in Hyde will mark the commencement of the procession around 9:45 am, with stops planned at various locations including Harehill Tavern, The New Inn for a dove release, Hatton’s Gym, Hyde Town Hall, Betta Bodies Gym, and the AO Arena.

A private memorial service will be held at the Cathedral starting at 12 pm, after which the procession will head to the Etihad Stadium. There, a touching tribute moved the boxer’s son, Campbell, before a private service for family and close associates.

The public will have the opportunity to pay their respects along the funeral route, although the service itself will remain private.
