Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene this morning, transporting the injured individuals to hospitals in and around Hurghada, known for its picturesque sandy beaches and luxurious accommodations frequented by tourists.
According to reports, a Red Sea tourism company’s bus traveling north from Hurghada collided with a heavy truck in the early hours, leading to the fatalities of the bus driver and another passenger. Foreign nationals are among those seriously injured, as confirmed by authorities.
Hurghada, located approximately 290 miles south of Egypt’s capital, Cairo, usually requires a five-hour drive through part of the Ras Gharib-Hurghada road. The destination of the bus on the day of the incident remains unknown.
Not long ago, a tragic train collision in Egypt’s Nile Delta claimed the lives of at least two individuals, with around 30 others sustaining severe injuries, possibly including foreign nationals. The collision occurred in Zagazig, the capital of Sharqiya province, as reported by the country’s railway authority and health ministry.
In response to the collision, over three dozen ambulances were dispatched to the site, with the injured individuals transported to Al-Ahrar and Zagazig University hospitals. The incident involved passenger trains No. 281 and No. 336 traveling between various destinations.
Train accidents are unfortunately common in Egypt due to an aging railway system compounded by mismanagement. However, the government has initiated efforts in recent years to enhance and modernize the railway infrastructure.
