Date:

Irish actor Aidan O’Callaghan, formerly known for his role in EastEnders, has offered a glimpse of his upcoming character in Coronation Street, teasing an intriguing storyline involving the iconic Rovers’ Return pub. O’Callaghan, 36, who previously captivated audiences in EastEnders with a compelling plot, is now transitioning from Albert Square to Weatherfield.

Taking to Instagram, O’Callaghan shared photos outside the renowned pub, hinting at his imminent appearance on the soap opera. His caption playfully read, “Who dis?”. Fans eagerly expressed their excitement, with one stating, “Can’t keep that man away from a good bar! Excited to watch..” Another exclaimed, “OMG congratulations mate.” A third chimed in, “About time you’re back on our Screens.”

Aidan is set to join Coronation Street alongside the newly-introduced Driscoll family. Actor Aaron McCusker, known for his role in Bohemian Rhapsody, will portray Ben, the new landlord of Rovers, who is married to Eva Price, played by Catherine Tyldesley.

The couple, joined by Pauline McLynn from Father Ted as Ben’s outspoken mother, Maggie, is returning to the cobbles. O’Callaghan will take on the role of Alan, a newcomer to the storyline.

A source from the show shared insights, revealing, “He is in one episode in flashback scenes, where we find out some of the family history from way back when Ben and his brother were children.” Although O’Callaghan is a guest artist, his appearance promises a unique and engaging episode.

During his time on EastEnders, O’Callaghan portrayed the complex character Lewis Butler, the charming bar manager at The Prince Albert. Lewis’ storyline involved a dramatic twist where his advances towards Ben were rejected, leading to a confrontation and subsequent departure from Walford.

Upon Lewis’ return to the square, a series of events unfolded, culminating in a dramatic revelation and justice being sought for his actions. O’Callaghan’s diverse acting portfolio includes roles in various productions such as Wolfe, The Rook, The Witcher: Blood Origin, and the acclaimed film A Simple Killing.
