Luke Littler provided an update following his absence from the second-to-last Players Championship event of 2025. The 18-year-old was initially set to compete at PC33 at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan but announced on Instagram that he couldn’t make it due to traffic delays, missing the registration deadline and consequently forfeiting his spot in the lineup.
Instead of joining his darting rivals on stage, Littler opted to have Chinese food at a local restaurant. Later on, he explained the reason for his tardiness, citing a tragic road incident on the M6 in Wigan where a man lost his life.
Emergency services responded to the incident between the Bryn Interchange and Orrell/M58 junctions, leading to a closure and ongoing investigations by the Greater Manchester Police. Despite missing PC33, Littler secured his spot in the upcoming Players Championship finals in Minehead with a stellar performance at PC32, overcoming several opponents and critics to solidify his position in the rankings.
His recent successes include winning the World Grand Prix title and a strong showing at the European Championship in Dortmund, highlighting his prowess in the darts world. Despite setbacks, Littler remains a top contender moving forward in the competitive darts scene.
