British Boxing Icon Ricky Hatton Passes Away at 46

Date:

After discovering the body of British boxing icon Ricky Hatton, authorities issued a statement confirming the tragic news of his passing at the age of 46. Hatton, known as The Hitman, was actively preparing for his anticipated comeback to the ring in December, despite his last professional fight dating back to 2012. His sudden demise occurred at his residence in Hyde, Greater Manchester, where he was a well-known figure and a passionate supporter of Manchester City.

Scheduled to attend the Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, Hatton, a dedicated City fan, had a hospitality reservation for the event. The police clarified that his death was not deemed suspicious, following the discovery of his lifeless body by officers in the early morning hours.

Having amassed a record of 45 wins and three losses, Hatton was widely admired in the boxing community, both locally and nationally, for his humble demeanor and electrifying fighting style. Tributes poured in from fellow boxers such as Tyson Fury, Frank Bruno, and Amir Khan, who honored Hatton’s legacy and candid discussions about mental health challenges.

Promoter Frank Warren expressed profound sadness at the loss of the legendary boxer, recognizing Hatton’s profound impact on the sport and his inspirational journey from his debut in 1997 to iconic victories like the one against Kostya Tszyu. Survived by his three children, Campbell, Fearne Grace, and Millie, Hatton leaves behind a lasting legacy in the world of boxing.
