Newly revealed emails show that Jeffrey Epstein and his former partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, collaborated to undermine women who were planning to expose their sexual abuse. Maxwell, who has downplayed her connection to Epstein, is now seeking to distance herself further from the disgraced financier. However, a recent discovery of old emails suggests that she worked with Epstein to silence accusers.
Reports from Bloomberg News reveal a trove of over 18,000 emails exchanged between Epstein and Maxwell, shedding light on their discussions during Epstein’s sex trafficking legal battles. In 2014, when allegations against Maxwell surfaced, she turned to Epstein for information to discredit her accuser. Maxwell requested files on the accuser in an email to Epstein, seeking details to counter the accusations.
The accuser, Virginia Giuffre, later implicated Maxwell in a victims’ rights lawsuit, alleging her involvement in Epstein’s sexual exploitation scheme. Maxwell attempted to undermine Giuffre’s credibility by sharing confidential documents with Epstein, highlighting inconsistencies in the accuser’s past. Maxwell referenced Giuffre’s personal history, including drug use and alleged involvement in witchcraft, in an effort to discredit her.
The emails also revealed Maxwell’s involvement in procuring gifts for Epstein’s associates, including close to 2,000 items for friends, victims, and business contacts. Among the gifts were expensive purchases intended for individuals linked to Epstein, raising questions about Maxwell’s role in facilitating these transactions.
The emails provide further evidence linking Maxwell to Epstein’s activities and shed light on their efforts to manipulate information to protect themselves from accusations of sexual abuse.
