After a widespread outage, Sky TV users faced disruptions with their services, including error messages and freezing screens on their Sky Q boxes. Sky has issued an apology for the inconvenience and assured that the issues have been resolved. Despite the fix, some customers are still reporting ongoing problems with their Sky Q boxes.
To address the lingering issues, Sky has recommended a simple solution – powering off the Sky Q box at the socket for 30 seconds and then turning it back on. This method is believed to restore service and eliminate errors, potentially allowing users to enjoy uninterrupted TV viewing over the weekend.
Fortunately, the technical difficulties only impacted satellite-based systems like Sky Q, while devices using the internet to stream content, such as Sky Glass and Sky Stream, remained unaffected. Instances of such system disruptions are rare, with this incident marking one of the few times that Sky Q has encountered significant technical challenges.
