The Office for Product Safety and Standards highlighted the risks associated with the fan, stating that it poses a high risk of electric shock due to inadequate insulation and insufficient clearance distance between circuits. The lack of compliance with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 raises concerns that over time, the insulation may wear down, exposing live wires and increasing the risk of electric shock to users.
Consumers who have purchased the affected fans are advised to contact Amazon for refund options. This recall follows a previous safety alert issued for certain Citroen C3 and related DS3 models due to potential faults in Takata airbag systems.
Moreover, nearly 60,000 Tower air fryers in the Republic of Ireland are being recalled as a precaution against fire hazards. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has identified a manufacturing defect in these air fryers, prompting the warning to consumers to discontinue use. While no incidents have been reported in Ireland, there have been instances in the UK of these air fryers catching fire.
