“Tiger Woods Changes Plea to No Contest in Reckless Driving Case”

Date:

Tiger Woods has changed his plea to no contest for a reckless driving charge in Florida, having previously denied a driving under the influence charge. The golf icon’s legal troubles stemmed from an incident where his SUV collided with a truck and flipped over on a residential road in Jupiter Island, Florida. Law enforcement officers discovered two pain pills in Woods’ possession and noted signs of impairment. Although his Breathalyzer test yielded negative results, Woods declined to take a urine test.

In a courtroom appearance in Martin County, just north of Palm Beach County, the 50-year-old Woods, accompanied by his girlfriend Vanessa Trump, remained mostly silent during the proceedings. Fortunately, neither Woods nor the occupants of the other vehicle sustained injuries in the crash, but his Land Rover inflicted $5,000 US worth of damage to the truck.

Woods admitted to a deputy that he was distracted looking at his phone and changing the radio station when the accident occurred. Despite his significant influence in the world of golf, Woods has faced setbacks due to various health issues and his reliance on pain medication. This latest crash adds to a history of four accidents, prompting Woods to take breaks from tournament play in the past.
