This win marked the Aces’ first game without NaLyssa Smith, who sustained a season-ending left leg injury during their previous match against Toronto, which they won 88-78.
On the opposing side, Isabelle Harrison led Toronto with 15 points, followed by Laura Juskaite with 14 points, Kia Nurse with 12 points, and both Kiki Rice and Kiana Williams contributing 10 points each.
The victory on Friday allowed the Aces (27-13) to maintain their one-game lead for third place in the WNBA playoff race over Indiana (26-14), who also secured a win against Connecticut with a score of 111-91.
Jackie Young’s crucial 3-pointer broke an early tie and set the tone for Las Vegas’ dominance throughout the game. The Aces finished the first quarter strongly, leading 27-17, shooting 10 for 20 from the field, including hitting six out of twelve shots from beyond the arc. Toronto struggled with turnovers in the first quarter, committing nine.
Las Vegas carried their momentum into the second quarter, establishing a commanding 56-39 halftime lead. Despite a slight dip in their 3-point shooting in the second quarter, Las Vegas maintained a solid 50% field goal shooting percentage (18-for-36).
Toronto faced foul trouble in the first half, committing 12 personal fouls, allowing the Aces to capitalize by converting 13 of 14 free throws.
Looking ahead, the Toronto Tempo will face the Phoenix Mercury, while the Aces are set to challenge the Seattle Storm on Thursday, Sept. 17.
