Unfortunately, certain remote areas lag in adopting the latest technology, leaving many residents disconnected from the benefits of modern internet services.
To highlight the broadband dead zones, Broadband Savvy has unveiled a map showcasing the areas with the best and worst connectivity speeds.
Reports indicate that individuals in parts of Scotland and Wales are experiencing the most significant issues, with some properties receiving speeds below 10Mbps, resulting in lengthy download times for content like movies. The list of the worst-affected areas is detailed below.
The following Electoral Wards have the poorest broadband connections:
• Shetland West, Shetland Islands, Scotland (14.99% with speeds below 10 Mbps, 130 out of 867 premises)
• Banwy, Llanfihangel and Llanwddyn, Powys, Wales (14.15% with speeds below 10 Mbps, 131 out of 926 premises)
• Ithon Valley, Powys, Wales (12.99% with speeds below 10 Mbps, 127 out of 978 premises)
• Wymondham, Leicestershire, England (12.77% with speeds below 10 Mbps, 94 out of 736 premises)
• Llangeitho, Ceredigion, Wales (12.16% with speeds below 10 Mbps, 85 out of 699 premises)
The following Local Authorities experience the worst broadband conditions:
• Orkney Islands, Scotland – 385 out of 11,920 premises with speeds below 10 Mbps (3.23%)
• Shetland Islands, Scotland – 282 out of 11,852 premises with speeds below 10 Mbps (2.38%)
• Powys, Wales – 1,394 out of 64,019 premises with speeds below 10 Mbps (2.18%)
