Drake Unveils “Fear of Missing Out” Film & New Tracks

Date:

Drake’s highly anticipated “not so short film” was unveiled to his eager fans on Tuesday night, offering a variety of new tracks and a glimpse into his extravagant lifestyle. Promoted as such on Instagram last week, the film, titled “Fear of Missing Out (FOMO),” lasted approximately an hour and was broadcasted live on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple platforms. Viewers were taken on a journey through Drake’s summer adventures, showcasing scenes of him dancing in his lavish Toronto home, spending time with his mother and her friends, and cruising on his lime-green luxury speedboat against the Toronto skyline.

Filled with nods to Toronto and Canada, the video featured Drake walking through the Canadian National Exhibition with fellow rapper Loe Shimmy, both sporting elaborate $150,000 Iron Man suits. The star-studded film included appearances from notable personalities like SexyyRed, Stunna Sandy, Winnie Harlow, Kevin Durant, Lena the Plug, and more. Notably, the video also previewed new music, introducing unreleased collaborations with artists such as Don Toliver, PartyNextDoor, and Yeat. Among the nine fresh tracks featured in the film was Drake’s remix of Ella Langley’s popular song “Choosin’ Texas.”

During the Toronto premiere of “FOMO,” Drake announced plans for a world tour in 2027, hinting at exciting upcoming projects. Despite the film’s temporary availability for streaming, Drake later made it private on his YouTube channel. Reactions from viewers varied, with some praising the film for its longevity and consistency in Drake’s music career, while others found it lacking in substance. Jamaican artist Spice congratulated Drake on Instagram, commending his dedication and passion evident in “FOMO.”

The buzz around Drake’s latest release began a month earlier with cryptic social media posts teasing the upcoming project. Through a series of Instagram posts, including family photos and CD cover images, Drake built anticipation for “Fear of Missing Out.” In a reflective caption before the release, he described the film as a self-funded surrealistic story aimed at inspiring viewers to seize opportunities and embrace life’s uncertainties. Encouraging his audience to take bold actions and appreciate the present moment, Drake’s message in the film resonated with fans and left them eagerly anticipating his future endeavors.
