At the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday evening, the gritty medical drama “The Pitt,” starring Noah Wyle, emerged victorious by claiming top honors for best drama series and best lead actor for Wyle. The show, aired on HBO, led the nominations with 25 nods.
In a surprising turn of events, Apple TV’s comedy-horror series “Widow’s Bay” stole the spotlight by winning best comedy series, along with multiple other accolades such as best lead actor in a comedy series, best supporting actor and actress in a comedy series, and outstanding writing and directing in a comedy series. The series took home a total of 14 Emmys out of its 19 nominations.
Another notable Apple TV production, the post-apocalyptic drama “Pluribus,” also secured a couple of awards from its 18 nominations, including best lead actress in a drama and outstanding writing.
On the other hand, HBO’s dark comedy “DTF St. Louis” clinched several trophies, including the coveted title of best limited series.
Renowned actor and philanthropist Michael J. Fox, aged 65, was honored with the prestigious Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for his significant contributions to Parkinson’s disease research by the Television Academy board.
The star-studded event was hosted by Mariska Hargitay, of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” who had already received a pair of Emmys for the documentary “My Mom Jayne” during the Creative Arts Emmys held on September 5 and 6.
