Evacuation orders related to the Bald Range and Quilpituk Creek wildfires in Summerland and West Kelowna have been downgraded, allowing thousands of residents to return home.

The Pear Lake wildfire remains the largest in the province, covering 1,574 square kilometers. Smoke from wildfires is expected to move back into central B.C., affecting air quality and visibility. Highway 97, previously closed due to wildfires, has reopened, while other sections remain closed, including a stretch near Vernon and Highway 1 in the Fraser Canyon.
