“Critical Security Update: Restart Chrome Now!”

Date:

Chrome users are urged to quickly restart their browsers due to a critical security update released by Google. The update addresses a significant vulnerability in the web browser software that has been classified as a “zero-day” threat. This designation indicates that hackers are actively exploiting the flaw.

Google has acknowledged the existence of an exploit for CVE-2025-6554 and confirmed the severity of the issue. The security flaw, identified by Clément Lecigne of Google’s Threat Analysis Group, poses a serious risk of data breaches and system compromises through arbitrary code execution.

To ensure protection, users should verify that they are running the correct Chrome version. The updated versions that guard against this vulnerability are 138.0.7204.96/.97 for Windows, 138.0.7204.92/.93 for Mac, and 138.0.7204.92 for Linux. If an older version is detected, an immediate restart is recommended.

After restarting the browser, users should no longer encounter any security issues. Google has assured that the updated versions will be rolled out to all users in the coming days or weeks.
