Following a 24-hour search operation, Sudbury authorities have confirmed the discovery of a deceased 26-year-old individual in Crowley Lake after the canoe he was in overturned. The incident prompted the dispatch of firefighters, paramedics, and police personnel to the lake on Thursday afternoon, shortly after 3:45 p.m. The man was located at approximately 3 p.m. the following day, but his identity has not been disclosed out of consideration for his family’s privacy.
According to reports, a canoe carrying three individuals capsized on the lake, with two of them safely escorted to shore by kayakers. Subsequently, law enforcement officers conducted a thorough search of the vicinity on foot with the assistance of the K-9 unit, as well as aerial surveillance using a drone and an Ontario Provincial Police helicopter.
