Roger Federer Surpasses Billionaire Mark After Retirement

Date:

Tennis icon Roger Federer has joined the billionaire club following his retirement in 2019. Federer, 44, amassed 20 Grand Slam singles titles in his career, a feat only eclipsed by Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

According to Forbes, Federer’s net worth has soared to $1.1 billion (£813 million), making him one of the few athletes to achieve billionaire status. His substantial earnings from endorsements, appearances, and business ventures have propelled him past Djokovic and Nadal in financial terms.

A significant contributor to Federer’s billionaire status is his stake in the renowned Swiss brand On. Since partnering with the company in 2019 and owning an estimated three percent share, Federer has seen the company’s value soar to nearly $15 billion (£11.1 billion), with his stake alone valued at over $375 million (£277.3 million).

In addition to his On investment, Federer has reaped around $1 billion (£739 million) from lucrative sponsorship deals with top brands like Lindt, Mercedes-Benz, Rolex, Moet & Chandon, Nike, and Uniqlo. He stands as one of only eight sports figures to reach billionaire status, with fellow tennis player Ion Tiriac being the first in 2007.

Other notable athletes who have achieved billionaire status include basketball icons Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and LeBron James, football stars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and golfer Tiger Woods. The late basketball star Junior Bridgeman was also estimated to be worth $1.4 billion (£1 billion) at the time of his passing in March.

Sky has introduced discounted prices for its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, offering members savings of £336 and access to over 1,400 live matches from leagues including the Premier League and EFL. Sky will broadcast at least 215 live Premier League games next season, an increase of up to 100 matches compared to previous seasons.
