The Montreal Roses took swift action following their exit from the W Canadian Championship by parting ways with their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, made the announcement on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for establishing the foundation of the professional women’s soccer team during its early stages.
Acknowledging the difficulty of the decision, Pichon emphasized the need for a fresh approach to propel the club forward for the remainder of the season and beyond. Despite Rositoiu’s efforts, the Roses, currently positioned second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, are gearing up for their upcoming matches.
Appointed as head coach in September 2024 for the team’s debut season in the NSL in 2025, Rositoiu leaves a void that will be temporarily filled by Maryse Bard-Martel, the former first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping. Bard-Martel will step in as the interim head coach as the club deliberates on finding a permanent successor for Rositoiu, overseeing the upcoming game against AFC Toronto.
