“Photographer at Center of US Open Outburst Controversy”

Date:

The photographer involved in Daniil Medvedev’s outburst at the US Open claims to have been unfairly targeted and suffered greatly because of the incident. Medvedev directed his frustration at umpire Greg Allensworth during his match against Benjamin Bonzi after the photographer entered the court during a crucial moment.

The disruption led to Allensworth instructing the photographer to leave the court, resulting in Bonzi being given another first serve. Medvedev was visibly displeased with the decision and approached the umpire to express his discontent, even smashing his racket in the process. Subsequently, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) revoked the photographer’s accreditation and had him escorted out of the Louis Armstrong Stadium by security.

The photographer, Selcuk Acar, maintains his innocence and intends to take legal action against the decision to revoke his credentials. Acar contends that he was directed by an official to step onto the court while the match was ongoing.

Following the incident, Medvedev lost the match and commented on the situation, noting that he expressed his emotions and dissatisfaction with the decision. He also referenced previous criticisms of Allensworth by another player, Reilly Opelka, who had voiced concerns about the umpire’s performance in a previous match.

The situation has sparked controversy, with Acar stating, “I’m a victim and totally innocent,” emphasizing that he did not intentionally disrupt the game. Medvedev’s reaction to the incident and subsequent loss added to the drama of the match, with tensions running high on the court.

In other news, Sky has announced a significant price reduction for its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, offering substantial savings and an increased number of live matches for the upcoming season. Members can expect to enjoy over 1,400 live matches from various leagues, including the Premier League and EFL, with Sky set to broadcast at least 215 live Premier League games in the upcoming season.
