Virgin Media is set to introduce a significant upgrade to its TV platform, enhancing the user experience by making content discovery more visually engaging. The upcoming changes, as announced in a recent blog post by Virgin, will revamp the search functionality to showcase vibrant images instead of traditional text lists.
The telecoms company confirmed the improvements, stating that the search experience on their Stream box and Virgin TV 360 will be more intuitive and efficient. Users will now see image results when searching for content, whether through typing queries or utilizing the voice search feature.
This update will be automatically rolled out to devices like the 360 and Stream boxes without any user intervention required. Virgin assured users that the transition to the enhanced search interface will occur seamlessly.
By streamlining the search process with visual cues, the upgrade aims to help users discover desired content faster, reducing the time spent browsing through channels. Virgin’s search function allows users to look for specific shows, movies, genres, or actors easily using the remote control’s Smart Search feature.
To initiate a search, users can press the magnifying glass button on the remote and input a few letters for Smart Search to provide relevant results. Alternatively, they can activate the voice search by holding down the mic button on the remote and speaking the name of the show, with options appearing as they type or speak.
Users can explore various search queries with their remote, such as finding content related to specific movies or genres, enabling a more personalized viewing experience. This upgrade enhances the overall user interaction with Virgin’s TV platform, emphasizing user-friendly navigation and content discovery.
