“Guardians of the Suspect: Women Protect Madeleine McCann Case Person of Interest in German Camp”

Date:

Two women are guarding the prime suspect in the Madeleine McCann case, Christian Brueckner, who has been hiding in a makeshift woodland camp in northern Germany. Brueckner, 49, relocated to the woods after facing backlash from locals following his release from prison. He attempted a failed fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to start anew outside Germany, raising concerns that his movements might no longer be tracked due to issues with his ankle tag.

Referred to as Mandy and Monda locally, the women, along with a pit bull terrier, protect Brueckner’s campsite, responding to inquiries by stating, “We are his helpers.” The site was found to have beer cans, fairy lights, and a makeshift screen, with a new bicycle also present.

Brueckner’s lawyers have instructed him not to speak to the media. He is the main suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann in Portugal in 2007. Previously convicted of raping a 72-year-old woman, Brueckner was released from prison but remains under surveillance.

Prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters expressed concerns about monitoring Brueckner outside Germany, emphasizing the ongoing investigation’s persistence despite the suspect’s lack of cooperation. Wolters mentioned undisclosed evidence and additional witnesses supporting the case. Brueckner denies any involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance.

A witness, Helge Busching, alleged that Brueckner had made disturbing comments about the case, including a claim that “she didn’t scream” during an incident. Brueckner had also boasted about resolving “the scandal of the century” in a phone conversation.
