An immediate recall has been initiated for a winter product due to a potential “fire hazard.”
The Valiant Radiator Fan, available through various retailers including Amazon, eBay, Temu, B&Q, Debenhams, The Range, and TikTok Shop, has been flagged by the Office for Product Safety and Standards. The issue stems from the internal Li-ion Polymer battery, which could malfunction during charging or while in standby mode, leading to a risk of fire.
The specific concern is that if the device is left unattended while charging or in standby mode, a fault could trigger thermal runaway, causing the product to ignite. This failure to meet the safety regulations of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005 has prompted the recall.
The product in question is a white rechargeable radiator fan with a black control panel for adjusting settings, manufactured in China. It can be identified by the barcode 5061026620844 and is part of batches 967, 968, and 970, which are indicated on the packaging next to the barcode and on the product’s base.
The office has confirmed that the radiator fan has been retrieved from end users. Owners are advised to immediately stop using the product and dispose of it properly at a local household waste disposal facility. Consumers should verify with their local center if they accept this type of battery.
