“Anthony Joshua Plans Surprise Ring Return Strategy”

Date:

Anthony Joshua is keeping his upcoming return to the boxing ring shrouded in mystery, with plans to announce his fight just 48 hours before the match kicks off. His last bout was in September, where he suffered a knockout defeat against Daniel Dubois at Wembley. Joshua aims to have a warm-up fight before setting his sights on a major showdown with fellow British boxer Tyson Fury next year. There is a possibility that the two-time heavyweight champion could feature on an event undercard before Christmas, with short notice.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, revealed that a decision on Joshua’s next fight will be made soon. If Joshua fights this year, the announcement may come very close to the fight date. Hearn mentioned that they have potential opponents lined up for a warm-up fight, emphasizing the desire for a low-key approach with minimal promotion and ticket sales involvement. Hearn expressed his wish for Joshua to deliver a dominant performance without the commercial pressures typically associated with big fights.

Regarding a potential matchup with YouTuber Jake Paul, Hearn clarified that while discussions have taken place, no official offer has been made. Despite Paul seeking new opponents for a December fight, Joshua is not among the candidates. Hearn hinted at the possibility of a fight between Joshua and Paul in the future but questioned Paul’s readiness for such a challenge.

In another boxing event, the rematch between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 15, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Fans can watch the fight on DAZN PPV for £24.99 or access it for free with a DAZN Ultimate subscription.

Joshua is currently exploring options for a new coaching team after parting ways with trainer Ben Davison. Recently, he visited Oleksandr Usyk’s training camp in Spain as he gears up for the next phase of his career. Joshua has worked with several notable trainers in the past, including Tony Sims, Rob McCracken, Robert Garcia, and Derrick James, before aligning with Fury’s former stable.
