Big Brother personality Mike Goldman recently shared a heartbreaking revelation that his residence was engulfed in flames, causing significant distress to his family. The renowned voice-over artist, aged 52, was inside his house in Brisbane with his wife Bianca Zouppas-Goldman and their one-year-old son, Jagger, when the fire broke out.
Narrating the Australian edition of the popular reality TV show, Mike expressed gratitude for the presence of smoke alarms in their two-story home, emphasizing that these devices played a crucial role in saving their lives. Reflecting on the traumatic event, he credited the alarm for ensuring their survival, stating, “If the alarm hadn’t gone off, I wouldn’t be here today. I’m alive because of it.”
The aftermath of the harrowing incident continues to linger, with Mike admitting to experiencing restlessness and heightened sensitivity to sound while sleeping. Recounting the intensity of the fire, he shared details of the night that led to the destruction of their home in an interview with the Courier-Mail.
Although the cause of the fire remains unknown two months after the incident, Mike mentioned that their house was insured. He has since partnered with Checktember, a national campaign promoting smoke alarm safety in Australia, urging everyone to ensure the functionality of their smoke alarms.
Mike rose to fame as the iconic narrator of the Australian version of Big Brother from 2001 to 2014, also hosting a spin-off series called Up Late. Following his time on Big Brother, he appeared on various TV shows, including Joe vs. Carole and Young Rock. Mike and Bianca, whom he met in 2016, tied the knot in 2019 and welcomed their son Jagger in May the following year, overcoming challenges with IVF due to Bianca’s endometriosis and Mike’s low sperm count.
